IFRI undergraduates perform outreach for high school students at Miami Science Museum
On November 13 and 14th, 2009, graduate and undergraduate students from IFRI, comprised of representatives from the Departments of Chemistry and Biology, put together an outreach program at the Miami Science Museum. The two day event was attended by nearly 200 high school students who performed forensic chemical and biological experiments including blood typing, DNA extraction, chromatography and latent fingerprint development. he experiments were led by a group of graduate and undergraduate students from FIU. By all accounts, the event was a resounding success, with the attending high school students enthusiastic, intrigued, and very much involved in the demonstrations.
