Jill Beaver, Worlds Ahead Ph.D. biochemistry graduate, was awarded a fellowship from the American Association for the Advancement of Science, known as the AAAS Science and Technology Policy Fellowship. She received an offer to be placed at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the Office of Strategic Coordination within the Office of the Director. Beaver will be working on the NIH Common Fund on a subset of their programs to evaluate and communicate the initiatives, progress, and accomplishments of the programs to the NIH leadership, Congress, and the public. She will be starting at the NIH in August, 2017.
Jill studied in the laboratory of Dr. Yuan Liu, studying the role of DNA damage and base excision repair in modulating trinucleotide repeat instability associated with human neurodegenerative diseases.
