Open Rank Faculty Position –Biomolecular Sciences Institute.
The Biomolecular Sciences Institute(BSI) at Florida International University invites applications to fill an open rank, tenure-track faculty position. The successful candidate will hold a primary position in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, under the School of Integrated Science and Humanity of the College of Arts, Sciences & Education. The Chemistry and Biochemistry program is a vibrant and emerging area under the BSI mission, with existing interdisciplinary research across the biomolecular sciences. The mission of the BSI is to facilitate multidisciplinary research and currently has collaborations that include the study of genomic stability and stress response, discovery and development of novel biosensors for detecting predictive biomarkers and the discovery of new medicines or interventions for treatment or prevention of diseases, including infectious diseases, cancer and neurological disorders. Primary consideration will be given to candidates with research in biophysics and biochemistry (experimental and theoretical), with emphasis in protein-DNA and protein-protein interactions, protein engineering, NMR and X-ray crystallography. Successful candidates will be expected to have and maintain a strong research program (external funding, peer-reviewed scholarly work, national/international collaborations, mentoring of undergraduate/graduate and post-doctoral researchers), to teach/adapt/develop transformative courses in chemistry and biochemistry at all levels, to provide strong leadership and service to their department/college and institute and to have excellent communication skills.
