Professors Dares, Tse-Dinh and Underwood Named Top Scholars

ImageProfessor Dares was nominated and selected to be honored as an FIU Top Scholar for Research and Creative Activities in the category of Junior Faculty with Significant Grants (Sciences). This award is in recognition of multiple accomplishments, including securing significant DOE grants, publishing of eight peer-reviewed manuscripts in journals with an average impact factor of eleven, and drafting a first patent application.






ImageProfessor Yuk-Ching Tse Dinh was nominated and selected to be honored as an FIU Top Scholar for Research and Creative Activities in the category of Established Faculty with Significant Grants (Sciences). This award is in recognition of very significant and impressive grants from the National Institutes of Health.








ImageSonia Underwood was nominated and selected to be honored as an FIU Top Scholar for Teaching and Mentoring in the category of Junior Faculty with Notable Gains in Student Learning and Success (Sciences). This award is in recognition of her work in implementing an evidence-based transformed curriculum in General Chemistry I and II (Chemistry, Life, the Universe and Everything - CLUE) courses. Her dedication to teaching with these innovative strategies has led to an 80% passing rate in the fall semester. These results and efforts are commendable.
