Dr. Jorge Gardea-Torresday, will visit FIU to present a seminar entitled, “Environmental Implications of Nanotechnology: Locating Metal Oxide Nanoparticle Transformation in Plants Using Synchrotron Techniques.”
Dr. Thomas Kunkel, of the National Institute of Heath / National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIH/NIEHS), will visit FIU to present a seminar entitled, "Ribonucleotides in DNA: Origins, Repair, and Consequences."
Dr. Diana Aga, of State University of New York (SUNY), will visit FIU to present a seminar entitled “Treatment of Pharmaceuticals and Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals in Municipal Wastewater and Animal Waste.”
Our departmental seminar this week will be presented by Dr. Miguel Ángel Gracia Pinilla of Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León in Mexico. He will give a talk entitled “Engineering of Nanomaterials: Case of Nanophotocatalysts.”
Dr. George Christou, of the University of Florida, will visit FIU to present a seminar entitled “Manganese Carboxylate Cluster Chemistry and its Relevance to Areas such as Bioinorganic Chemistry and Nanoscale Magnetism.”
Professor Amitava Adhikary from Oakland University, will present a seminar entitled "Formation of the pyrimidine nucleoside anion radical owing to pre-hydrated electron addition to modified pyrimidine nucleosides and the subsequent reaction of these nucleoside anion radicals."
Dr. Vincent L. Pecoraro, will present a lecture on “De Novo Designed Metalloproteins: From Heavy Metal Binding to Redox Catalysis” The lecture will take place in WC 130 from noon to 1pm on Thurday, October 29
Dr. Robert Stahelin, from the University of Notre Dame, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, will host a lecture entitled: "Ebola virus and Marburg virus use different modes of lipid gymnastics to assemble and form new viral particles."
